TiVo

User experience design of TiVo's first HD interface.

TiVo is the maker of the world's first DVR. TiVo sought to update its ten-year old interface to take advantage of the HD format, and optimize the search and discovery experience. The previous design and interaction had positioned the product as one of the most user-friendly devices on the market, and thus the redesign had to stay true to this position.

Montparnas worked closely with the company's internal user interface team to help to redefine the experience. Starting with conceptual designs and a re-examination of the existing information architecture, Montparnas and TiVo's team rehauled the entire application while keeping within the existing interaction paradigms.

Primary areas of the design work centered around the intial screen, "TiVo Central" and the browse experience. This led to a new "Discovery Bar" that allowed users to continually be exposed to new, appealing content.
